Spring Meeting – Friday 30th May 2025

Normans – Unit 3, Ryknild Trading Estate, Derby Road, Burton-on-Trent DE14 1RZ

Tower Brewery – The Old Water Tower, Walsitch Maltings, Glensyl Way, Burton-on-Trent DE14 1LX

Our spring event this year is split across 2 venues in Burton on Trent. The morning session will be lead by Nick Walker from Normans which is still a family run business over 60 years since they first started. We will talk about the importance of sustainability and the work that they are doing to support a healthier planet and especially their ReTune project which has been set up with the aim to help music hubs recycle their old, unused musical instruments. For those attending on the day there will be an opportunity to buy some of the second hand instruments that have been donated so it’ll be an great opportunity to bag yourself a bargain for spare parts or to do up and resell…
… another possible use for the instruments you purchase on the day is to turn them into a beautiful ornament or lamp which is exactly what Denise and Chris Moss from Mallard Makeovers do. For our afternoon session they will show us some of their creations made from old instruments. As well as recycling old instruments they try to re-use old wood, copper, crome, brass etc to create a one off light fitting. They sell their beautiful lamps newly wired with new lamp holders, 3 pin 13amp plug fitted with a 3amp fuse, more than 2.5meters of flex and PAT tested by a qualified electrician. During the lunch break we will move over to Tower Brewery to eat and get ready for the afternoon. We hope you’ll also be able to stay afterwards for a drink.
